Coronavirus disease (COVID-2019) Outbreak and its Lessons

The outbreak of Coronavirus coded as COVID-19  has indeed humbled the entire world leaving no sphere behind. It is no news that several local and international conferences were cancelled. In fact, a conference organised to address the COVID-19 pandemic had to be canceled because of fear of the spread of the virus.

Religious bodies are not equally left untouched as everyone is enjoined to worship his or her God in their dormitory.  Flight both local and international were canceled with borders of several countries shut down against each other. This is not the case of being wicked, it is a case of everyone for himself and each country is adequately making use of one of the principles in First Aid, you check for danger to yourself first, if you are not safe, you cannot assist another person. That aside, COVID-19 is so unique in its own way that a whole lot of people hold different views about the outbreak. Some are of the opinion that the COVID-19 outbreak is a bioterrorism weapon created at a lab while some believe that the “World Economic Lords/ Powers Holders” are acting some funny drama, playing some economic jingoism even at the expense of respect to humanity. Others, albeit, postulate that God wants to prove that He is still in charge and that the best way to do so is to unravel the virus to kill his creation.

Another school of thought believes that it is just a normal outbreak that the world is due to experience.  While the statements above remain hypotheses and depending on the one you want to agree with, COVID-19 is unique and there are certain things we all should learn from it. Join me as I take you through the journey.
Coronavirus, what it is
Coronavirus disease codes as (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that is caused by a new virus. The disease inflicts respiratory illness (just like the flu). Coronavirus is enveloped ribonucleic acid (RNA) viruses that cause respiratory illnesses of varying degrees of severity from the common cold to fatal pneumonia.
COVID-19 was first reported in Wuhan, China in late 2019, and has since spread extensively from China to the whole world.
Regrettably, the entire world has not yet recovered from its impact until now.
Symptoms of Coronavirus
Its symptoms include fever, cough, and in cases that are more severe, the victim will experience difficulty in breathing. It is also possible for an individual to test positive to Coronavirus without showing any symptoms, asymptomatic cases. There is a tendency that the symptoms manifest on time in people with underlying illnesses.
COVID-19 Route of Transmission
Records have shown that COVID-19 is a zoonotic illness and its early cases were linked to a live animal market in Wuhan, China, with suggestions that the virus got transmitted from animals to humans.
However, it could be transmitted from person-to-person through contact with infected secretions, majorly through contact with large respiratory droplets. It could also occur via coming in contact with a surface already contaminated by respiratory droplets.
Treatment of Coronavirus
There are several ongoing efforts and trials on getting the vaccine to treat COVID-19 but at this moment, there is NONE yet. The victims are quarantine or isolated for possible recovery while the medical team provides support for such a victim.
If you are keenly following through history, causes, route of transmission and all the events that follow, you will agree with me that the outbreak of Coronavirus must have taught the human race some lessons. The first of it is “good health remains your assets.” Under no condition must you joke with your health. Health, as defined by the World Health Organization is the complete state of the physical, social, mental and emotional wellbeing of an individual and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Good health stands at the center of every other thing a human being does. Without good health, it is evidently clear that the whole world will be in jeopardy. This has nothing to do with your strata or class, any individual whose health is and is as good as being dead while alive. Such an individual becomes a liability to the family, the loved ones and has no economic importance to the nation.
It takes good health to plan for a wedding, house warming, career development, traveling for vacation, meetings and even contesting for an election and so on. Without good health, the list above remains day-dreaming. It is therefore imperative to say that you must do all you can to build your life around good health.
Do not also forget that there is no vaccine for COVID-19 as at this time, so prevention is KEY. This is the direction I am going, health is a continuum, it is not in any way static and one of the ways to improve one’s health is by complying holistically with the health rules. Now, here are the lessons I want you to learn from the whole scene:
Your health is KEY, and so, staying safe by all means is important.
Do not joke with hygienic practices either now or later.
The rule of handwashing will be entirely relevant in the field of medicine, health, and general wellbeing. To tell you how important it is, the apex organisation of health, W.H.O set aside a day as the International Handwashing Day.
The place of a strong immune system cannot be jettisoned. The immune system could be said as a host defense system that comprises many biological structures and processes within an organism that protects against diseases. More than 100,000 people who tested positive for COVID-19 had recovered from the virus infection after isolation and management of the symptoms. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Nigeria as a country as at present has recorded 97 confirmed cases, 1 death case and about 6 people are said to have recovered from COVID-19.

This recovery could be traced back to their immune system. Meaning that their immune system was strong to fight the virus. Without a good and nutritious diet, the immune system becomes weaker and a weak immune system is susceptible to opportunistic diseases.
As I bring this discussion to a close, unlike the case of Ebola hemorrhagic fever and other outbreaks, you must never forget the lessons you’ve learned during this outbreak and as the world continues to win the battle against it’s spread, preach the gospel of good health, maintain social distancing, eat well, sleep well, maintain a high level of hygiene, check on other people’s through call, text or chat, see to your mental wellbeing, do not panic, observe other universal precautions and above all, trust and have FAITH in GOD.
Remember, You must stay safe and HEALTHY!
